The dark mornings are slowly getting lighter and lighter, and my 6am yoga session with all its sun salutations seems the perfect fit for those colourful skies. Inspired by the morning lights I’ve put together this outfit with all the beautiful colours of sunrise, taking in some of my favourite brands. Let me know if you like it!
.Ahh Lululemon, you and your stunningly luxury garments. This Seva Sweater (£98) is made from merino wool, y’know that magical fabric that’s breathable and insulating. It has splits at the sides to allow for movement, and a dipped hem at the back to keep you covered in forward bends. The deep navy is beautiful and feels snug as a bug in a rug.
.These gorgeous City Basic Leggings by Mirelle from Active In Style are super hot and super flattering. the waist band is nice and thick, which will allow for a snug fit while transitioning between postures. They look like they’ll be opaque too, which is comforting when you head into downward dog. Reduced to £60 too, they’re great value.
.Ombre, oh how I love you ombre! The Athlete Vest, just £35 from Sweaty Betty is a firm favourite of mine; the racer back sits perfectly between the shoulder blades, and the fabric feels really luxe. But the thing that really caught my eye about this vest? Clearly the colours! Aren’t they gorgeous? That deep purple, through pink to orange is definitely an energising combination that’s bound to get your sun salutations flowing fast.
.Yoga blocks, often overlooked in classes but so handy to help you get a better position in so many postures. I use mine wedged under my heels in malasana, under my hips in hanumanasana, and under my hands if I’m doing jump-throughs. Oh and you can also use them underneath your back in savasana to open out your thoracic spine, lush. This orange colour also happens to go perfectly with the outfit. Just £5.50 from Yogamatters, you can afford to buy a few – you may need them!
.The mornings are still cold and I am sticking to wearing pilates socks for my yoga practice, which work well until I have to take hold of my big toes. These ToeSox from Amazon* are perfect for yoga, with their grippy sole and separate toe pockets. And I love the Fiesta colourway with this outfit. Available from between £10-13, I think they’ll be worth their weight in gold.
.Another yoga accessory, this time a yoga belt. They can help you reach deeper into a stretch, or pull further into a pose. Super useful for anyone who’s serious about yoga. Sometimes a yoga belt can mean the difference between hitting a new pose (e.g. natarajasana) or not. And they’re only £5.75 from Yogamatters. Bargain.
.Now this is my dream yoga mat. The Liforme mat, available for £100 from Amazon* has a grippy, yet cushioned feel, and even has AlignForMe markers etched into it to help you get the perfect alignment in your postures. Bang on downward dog every time! I really want to try one of these to see if it will help me – sometimes it’s so hard to tell if you’re in the right position in a pose. Definitely on my wishlist and I’ve only heard good things. Very clever.
.And last but not least, this Fringe Fighter headband, £18 from Lululemon. Nothing is more annoying when you’re mid-balance and your hair flops over your face – why is it that much harder to balance when your vision is partially interrupted?! Thin headbands always seem to work their way back on my head, or don’t provide enough coverage to stop the hair from coming over the top of them, but this band is nice and thick so should do the job nicely. And it’s in a pretty colour too!
Have I captured the spirit of a sunrise in this outfit? Which pieces do you like from my selection? Let me know!
