An exciting pop-up store is hitting the heart of East London next week. Showcasing “Blonde”, the Iconic and Ironic follow-on from the debut Icon collection, at BOXPARK is… Lexie.
The Blonde Collection
British designed and produced, Lexie sportswear is high quality and technical, with ergonomic design and lightweight fabrics mixed with edgy angular cuts and mesh panels. With the “Blonde” collection comes a graphic print, inspired by the reflective and moving qualities of the hair colour, but also drawing from geometric and art deco influences.
“I wanted the collection to feel and look brilliant ‘off court’ but it also has to perform.” Says Lily Rice, Founder and Head Designer of Lexie. “Many items are designed to incorporate stretch meshes to allow breathability and movement, super lightweight fabrics to allow the body to perform naturally, and our small but clever waistband that’s been designed specifically for the female body.”
Lily, born in Bristol and raised in Cornwall, specialised on the only Performance Sportswear Design course in the UK. She went on to create a ten-look collection as commissioned by the Sri Lankan Design Festival, which was then produced by one of the world’s leading sportswear manufacturers.
Moving on to work for Nike owned Umbro, Lily gained experience working on kits and training products for sports teams such as England, Manchester City, Bilbao and Lille.
Applying the importance for performance wear to her own creations, the Lexie sports brand celebrates athleticism in women. The quality of Lily’s brand obviously shone, gaining her investment from Richard Reed of innocent smoothies when she appeared on the BBC3 show “Be Your Own Boss” in 2012.
As a footballer in her early years, and a runner in more recent years, Lily has always fostered a passion for sport giving her unique insight, which she applies to her designs.
