At a time when just about everyone and their dog is posting an “annual review” or, in recent trends, Flipagram, I thought I’d join in the masses and look back over my past year. 2013 has been, after all, the year of the blog. I started Fitcetera back in September 2012, but it wasn’t really until early 2013 that the real fun started to happen and I started to make more fitness friends.
So, where to begin?
I tried some fun fitness classes…
Ian Waite and Natalie Lowe, of Strictly fame, taught me how to Jive, Tango and Salsa my way to a fit bod with FitSteps.
I was pushed to the end of the world and back in Armageddon.
I got my gloves on and boxed like a bitch at GymBox.
I got Whipped at Equinox.
I danced like it was 1999 at the Fitness Freak Rave.
Hollie, aka Pilates PT, showed me the ropes in a reformer class.
and I got the Hollywood movie set treatment with Ramona Braganza’s 321 Method.
I met some pretty inspirational people…
Dan McDonogh’s enthusiasm was almost as fun as the TRX itself!
Olympian Steve Backley taught me how success is simply mind over matter.
I met the 2012 winners of the USN 12 Week Body Makeover Challenge.
and I got to have a motivational Q&A with the Marvellous Mimi.
I went to some brilliant events…
The GymBox Bloggers’ Champion Challenge separated the women from the girls…
The lovely Lunges and Lycra ladies showed us how to have a fun fitness treasure hunt.
and I attended two fantastic Write This Run conferences.
I joined some fantastic groups and causes…
I became a member, and most recently Head of Blogger Relations, of the Fitness Writers’ Association.
I am a champion of The Sugar Challenge, set up by the amazing Richard Callender.
I was a part of fab What I See Project.
I became a Sweat Pink Ambassador
I made my very first fitness video for the awesome Zero Calorie Advent Calendar.
and I submitted my blog for the UK Blog Awards (which I’d really appreciate your support with 🙂 everyone who votes also gets a free blogging ebook!)
I’m not sure if 2013 can be topped with all the fun stuff I’ve been lucky enough to be a part of, but with the amazing people around me, and the drive to make 2014 AWESOME, it may just be possible.
I hope you’ve had fun reading about the fun things I’ve been up to, and I’d love to know what your year’s been packed with – please feel free to post a link to your blog round up in the comments below, or send them to me via Facebook or Twitter!
Stay fit and happy new year!
