Disclosure

Last updated 29th July 2015.

General

Fitcetera is meant first and foremost as a personal blog about my own fitness experiences, both in the form of a training diary, and including different events and opportunities that may arise. I am very lucky to be invited to trial classes and products, and visit different sports and lifestyle venues, which I may choose to write about.

I also write product and race reviews. These reviews may be of products and races I have paid for myself, or of products and race entries that I have been lucky to receive as gifts from vendors or their PR companies. Where I review a product or race entry that has been given to me free of charge, I will clearly disclose this within the post. I only ever post reviews of products and races that I would pay for with my own money, and that I believe would be of interest to my readers. If I do not like a product or race it will not be featured on my blog, rather than writing a negative review. Any incentives received (such as free samples or race entries) do not affect my judgement of a product and all reviews are 100% honest and based entirely on my own opinions.

This blog, and its content, is my hobby and passion. I love the interaction with my readers and appreciate every comment, tweet and “like”. Although Fitcetera takes up a considerable amount of my free time outside of work I endeavour to continue as long as possible and your support will only make this more worthwhile.

Blog With Integrity

I have pledged to Blog With Integrity, signing up to their ethical code of conduct and as such I will always handle myself appropriately and present my honest opinions to the best of my ability. Find out more about Blog With Integrity by clicking on the badge below.

Any advice given on this website is meant for the general adult population and should not be taken as an alternative to personal recommendations from your own doctor or other health professional. It is recommended that before taking on a diet or exercise programme you seek advice from your GP. I will not accept any responsibility for any accident or illness experienced as a result of any dietary or fitness advice followed from this blog.

My Philosophy

I hope to inspire and motivate others to live active and healthy lifestyles. I believe that every individual has the right to find and choose whatever exercise makes them happier and healthier. However, I do also believe that in order to make real progress in fitness, boundaries must be pushed so that the body can carry out its natural adaptive processes.

I also believe that health and diets should be considered as all encompassing and that there are no such things as “good” and “bad” foods. Some may view my participation in The Sugar Challenge as contrary to this belief, however, I see The Sugar Challenge as a remonstrance against the overuse of sugar in our foods as opposed to an advocacy for a sugar free diet.

Advertising, Sponsored Posts and Affiliate Links

Where I feel it may be of use, I will include links to sites where products or services used or mentioned in the post can be purchased. Sometimes these links may be “affiliate links”, from which I may received a small commission if you choose to buy the product/service. Affiliate links do not affect the price that you pay. Affiliate links will be clearly marked, where used.

Occasionally, I accept compensation for writing about a particular topic, or including information or links to particular brands. Any posts where payment has been accepted will be clearly identified by both a statement at the end of the post, and the “sponsored” tag. Sponsored posts do not affect my opinion on a topic, and I will only accept sponsored posts where the topic or brand fits within my ethos and blog identity. Any compensation received is injected back into my blog, through hosting fees, development, photography equipment, events and courses, all of which are paid for with the intention of adding value to the content or appearance of the blog.

Any adverts on this blog do not imply a recommendation; however they are carefully selected in line with my philosophy of an active and healthy lifestyle. I will always endeavour to keep advertising to a minimum, and will only include adverts that are as non-intrusive as possible. Adverts are present with the purpose of generating income in order to maintain the running costs of this blog, including the costs already mentioned above.

Any income received from these, or any, sources do not play a part in the products and services featured/used or statements written on this blog.
